Closure and Tour

Gamemode 4 PS6 has now closed! The server had been up for over a year and seen several events and milestones.

The timing of the pandemic did mean the earlier days of the server saw heightened activity.

Later events in the server's life such as "The Election" did re-introduce some players and had over 50 unique player votes.

Tour

The end of the server was marked with a now-traditional server tour. Players could submit builds via the Discord

The tour lasted two and a half hours, with Special and Bloo visiting several areas around the server, with heavy focus on collaborative player bases. The tour can be viewed here.

The last few hours of the server were marked with "no rules". Players were given free reign to destroy the spawn and surrounding areas.

A backup was taken before the tour, so all alterations will not be reflected in the final world download. An announcement of when the download is available can be found by visiting the Discord.

Next Server

Gamemode 4 will return for another Public Server on the 9th April!

Little is known about what the server will look like, but hints have been released via the Discord.

From the stream, it is known that there will be a spawn town, that the next server will have 8.5 times the volume and that there have been custom data packs created.

It was hinted that the next server could be released ahead of schedule, but this is dependant on progress being made by the staff team.

The next server will not have a number, it will simply be "Public Server" -- though an unofficial name could arise from general consensus. This blog suggests "Public Server Cookie".

How it all ended: The Gamemode 4 UHC

Pride Tower- at world hub- that was burnt during the final fight.

Context

This UHC was a heavily Gamemode 4-ified version of this classic staple. All old standing rules applied - once you died you are out (.ect) - however, the twist came with the addition of Gamemode 4 Modules.
  • Loot tables were tweaked to offer the late-game item of Shamir's to players.
  • Desire lines were heavily buffed to make following where players had been easier - also to make murder easier but we can't say that.
  • The map was a pre-players PSV spliced with Spawn Towns and World Hub (which was the centre of the final fight
  • A new module was added that gave a health boost (of sorts) when you were near a campfire.
  • Full List of Modules can be found here:https://hastebin.com/fimapulala.diff

Strategy Note

Enderman Support Class means that mobs receive potion effects. Coupled with the vanilla game's own functionality that creepers explode and leave a lingering cloud, this is an effective way to get regeneration.

Credits

These events would never occur if it was not for the amazing staff team that runs Gamemode 4. Credits for the event are as follows:
  • Sheepe  for the UHC Datapack
  • kruthers (🐼)  for putting together the map/ helping last minute (even whilst being in a woods somewhere in the UK)
  • Bloo for putting together the teams, channels and running of the event <3
  • BlueSushiRanger (🍣) and the other staff for moderating the event
And to our patreons for whom we owe so much to keep the server running, and for meeting our goal to run monthly events!

Grim Reapers Fast Tide and The Winners

Sweet Parting and Sorrow

A few interesting deaths did occur. Player kykis had to leave and decided to leave the game with a final act of death, in this case by a llama.

The first death during the UHC was by user TheEpyonProject. To quote Epyon on how they died:

Right after we were unfrozen, a skeleton walked out of an exposed tunnel with dark spots. Dealing with a skeleton with like 6 logs kinda sucks
After being revived, I was looking for logs again. In a dark oak forest. So another skeleton came by and killed me.~ Epyon after the event.

The first team eliminated was that of LeNoodleSoup and PokePugx of Team Emerald.

Victory Tour

The Real Winners

The centre became a toxic waste-land as the final few members all faced off.

Top of the world was team "translate.generic.team_name" - aka InternetAlien, Synthestra, Hentor and Archee.

Below, "The Mario Sisters "- aka tomh (aka Hellicar and AutoMod), marhjo, DragonEye3k and SirSheepe.

Beneath them, _EndH_ hid and cowered.

The Mario sisters and translate.generic.team_name hacked at each other the most. Sheepe causing some damage by firing a pufferfish from a crossbow - thanks to crossbow cartridges.

Only mahjro survived the onslaught and tried work with _EndH_ to take out the remaining members of translate.generic.team_name. This was their final curtain call with both ringing the grim reaper to their side. Soon after this, the remaining members faced suppergerrie2 (who was locked in the nether - see below).

Suppergerrie2 was soon defeated leaving translate.generic.team_name the winners - though this did not stop gerrie getting in a cheeky kill before being yeeted.

The True Winner

Even though the real winners of the event were translate.generic.team_name, the true winner should be Suppergerrie2. Due to a team member leaving this world via a llama-ry death, and the others simply dying,

Gerrie was very much disadvantaged.

He escaped to the nether to farm gold, but due to the shrinking world border was stuck. This was expanded towards to tend of the events to allow him to leave and face his doom.
