Module Updates and a Preview

Module Previews and Update

Gamemode 4 is always looking to improve older modules and making tweaks between Minecraft versions. Gamemode 4 also is constantly trying and creating new modules to expand the scope of the project. This is how modules such as Tunnel Bores and Zip Rails came about. The simple idea of working and expanding on ideas that the creators find fun or others submit.  Today, I present an update and a new module.

Zauber 1.16 Update

The creator of the Zauber Cauldrons module, Bloo___ (formerly Bluefire610, memelord100, UltimateGermanEfficiency) has been working on new content and tweaks for the 1.16 Minecraft Update.

The first of these changes is to allow Zauber Cauldrons to use Bluefire (Soul Fire) found by setting fire to soul soil in the upcoming 1.16 update. This tweak also comes with a major improvement to how potions work. Any potion created with the module in a cauldron with blue fire underneath (or Bloo if using the lolcat language) will now be multi-use. This is similar in functionality to the now-retired Ambrosia module that allowed players to have multiple sips of honey bottles.

Bloo also said, "I entail to use these as a way to balance the currently expensive wormholes in a bottle."  Yes, this means there will multi-use wormhole in a bottle.

New Module in Development

A new module is in development. The main intention of this is a way to spice up PvP and PvE. The module is envisaged to randomly tp the player around the target of attack. This is hoped as one way to balance the usage of shields in a PvP context. Within the background of PvE, Bloo described situations of a skeleton no being able to turn around fast enough during a player attack, also allowing them to dodge arrows.

There is currently no name for this module, but  I suggest the name Evade. It is unknown whether or not he will be a Shamir. If it is a Shamir, it is unknown whether it would be added to a current band or a new one created.

A History of What On Gamemode 4

"What's on Gamemode 4" has a bit of a history with sororicide. Projects in previous servers have existed to share news, memes and stories. Here is a brief overview of the current state of this project and the history of previous projects.

PSII-PSIII and early 4D

The Gamemode 4 Server had a form of update video created by Moderator Misode. These were made using the replay mod and can be found here. They hold no association to the project but could be considered the earliest form of sharing what had been going on the server.

The 4D Era

The 4D era of news originated with a projected called "The Fourth Perspective". The main gimmick was handing out papers in the form of written books and have them distributed over the server. To quote the original history article on the original blog:
The 4th Perspective was founded by Kyrkis and RedstoneLogic. Both were active players on Gamemode 4D and established the paper as a way to share fake news - a poignant topic at the time in 2018. The paper soon evolved away from this initial aim with players reporting actual news. The method was streamlined and players submitted articles to a Discord server. This continued for a while in Written Book form within the game, and lead to approximately 12 editions. This was carried on via several leaders: Kyrkis, DroDo, and ToffeeMax, changing hands as players left or moved on.

As this continued, 4D had a drop off in core players and the project dwindled. With the aim of maintaining and creating articles easier, the project moved online under the same name. This dwindled dude to lack of interaction and action from after the move.

During the start of Public Server V, the project continued on in the background but subsided.

The PSV Era

After the death of the previous project due to inactivity and a new server, news updates as a concept was the main project.

Over time, Server Member Sandur_ produced short image compilations dubbed "Gamemode 4 Funnies" which caused mainly confusion due to their seemingly random choices of screenshots but were an unusually good and easy way of compression activity on the server. Sandur_ later started to produce news based images to a mixed reception and this project was created (by ToffeeMax and Sandur_)

The project moved on to a blog (due to the previous easer with The Fourth Perspective) where writers would create a weekly update on the events of the Public Server and Gamemode 4 as a whole. Sandur_ continued to produce the weekly update images that acted as a cover for the blogs and a basis of content for the blogs.

This blog soon subsided towards Christmas and as activity from members was taken up by outside commitments. Similarly to T4P, the project lied dormant.

The Reboot

With the advent of Public Server 6 and a need for updates on a busy server, this project has been revisited and will be seeing a new wave of activity in the form of staple weekly updates, video content and other articles on whatever the writers are inspired to craft.

Secrets of Gamemode 4D

Secrets of Gamemode 4D

The Mega Project of Gamemode 4 that was 4D is now 2 years old. Here are some development secrets you may not have been aware of.

How did the idea of Dimensions come into being?

Sparks and Crazyman47_ (creators of Gamemode 4) dreamt up the main concept behind 4D, dimension-hopping, at Minecon 2016. Other Gamemode 4 Developers - Bluefire610 (now Bloo___) and SpecialBuilder32 later joined, with moderators helping in the final stage.

When did the development of 4D actually start?

Too long. You could listen to the ring cycle, write a clone of  The Four Pillars Appearing from The Equal D under Resonating Apparitions of The Eternal Process in The Midwinter Starfield and still not know how much time and effort went into creating this mighty project come to life.

Bugs where you could lose items between worlds

Due to a design quirk, each dimension had its own player data storage and not in a central location. If a player lost items, this was due to an error in transferring data across. You could sometimes change worlds to find you had an older copy of your inventory

Cross dimension chat and no tping

To make chat work across dimensions, all chats were sent via a proxy. This allowed players in Upper Caves, The Overworld, and The Moon to all communicate.

One thing that was not possible was tp-ing across dimensions. Moderators would have to travel to the location in question, which added a lot of lag time between reporting and action. However, landings did remove a lot of these issues.

How did the mandala plugin work?

You can find the source code here to browse for yourself! https://github.com/SpiderRobotMan/GM4-WorldLinks

It is no longer supported and works for Minecraft version 1.12.2 only, but feel free to have a look- and pick it up if you really want to.

Where did the world benders come from?

Sharing that mystery would anger them... they see all... But as a clue... The makers are the ones they are.

The Dynmap

A lot of credit needs to go to TransportLayer - one of the two system admins on 4D (alongside SpiderRobotMan), He separately rendered all the dynmaps on his personal servers to then have them on the website.

I need more 4D Goodness!

Then you in luck - below are two videos. One with questions from the community and a cinematic review.
